Fantasia awards 2004

Overall, I'm surprised with a lot of the choices. One Missed Call was my favorite of the festival, and I don't see it anywhere. Maybe it was shown too late to be included?

Ju-on, best Asian film voted by the fans? That threw me for a loop, I was really let down by it.

I'm pleased One Point O got a lot of recognition. It was something else, that's for sure.

And it figures the two movies I wanted to see but didn't (Shaun of the Dead, Last Life) and one movie I bought a ticket for but couldn't see (Uninvited) took home top honors. C'est la vie.

Has anyone seen Into the mirror?
I had my ticket but I couldn't go.

How was it?

A touching and original love story about two people who fall in love with each other without ever having met... tragic and a little twisted. Very well done. This and LAST LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE have been my fave films so far... Let's not forget IMMORTEL:)

Tonight ...
Tonight it's FAILAN and OAN HON... hope I fare better than yesterday...
My last film will be on Friday - ONE LAST CALL, I think I'll pass on SAVING PRIVATE TOOTSIE,
so if anyone wants the ticket....

ROMASANTA and OKUL were interesting in that you had a pretty girl's face to look at at least:)

OKUL was really a teenage "horror" ghost/comedy/love story... no blood, no gore... really for kids, it was a message film for Turkish youth!

ROMASANTA, started off with promise, but turned lame mid through. I wasn't expecting a serial killer film,
but interesting to know it was based on a true story.

the bitter taste of "what?"
Romasanta was a bit of a disapointment. i wish whoever writes those blurbs would actually WATCH the movie beforehand. it'd really be a help to all us poor suckers who have to rely on it. that was NOT a werewolf movie (though it did contain an original transformation sequence). the werewolf part was an incidental side-note, barely worthy of notice. based on a true story, apparently. and, for the second time, i was cheated of my foreign film. can't any of these films be in their original language, other than the Asian ones? meh.

just one more movie left for me: Red vs. Blue on Sunday, and since i've already seen it, no surprises there. a good way to end the festival, i think.

Why does this tank have 6 pedals but only goes in 4 directions!?

DJ XL5 movies?

I was at the showing of DJ XL5 on Saturday, and I was wondering if anyone here would know where I could download the clips they showed there.  Specifically, I'm interested in:

  1. Kaiju meet commercials (I went to www.kaiju.com but couldn't find where to download them, and still don't understand what it's about)

  2. Micheal Jackson and Barbie having sex at the travel agency

  3. The Crippled Masters (I think there's also a full length film with them)

Tonight, at Fantasia
The Night They Returned ... an SV Bell film.

11:30pm ... I'll be there, hope to see a few of you out there too.

I'm only in this one for a bit over 10 minutes, but it's a nice, semi-erotic scene.

Till later tonight.

Killing Words
Saw Killing Words tonight... I really liked it, a lot of twists and turns and a great performance by Dario Grandinetti. It reminded very much of A Patricia Highsmith novel, and was directed by a woman for a change. All in all a good thriller that relied on a real psychological mind game.

The Uninvited
caught The Uninvited last night ~ it was an excellent movie. disturbing, yes, and either the film or the camera kept going out of focus (very annoying) but overall i highly recommend it. it wasn't anything like the blurb advertising said. a complete mind-fuck, with a disturbing amount of people committing suicide and/or being killed, but i definately recommend it. everything's done in 2s, and there's some gorgeous camera angles and shots.

I forgot to mention this two days ago.

For those of you who really enjoyed the Exorcist and The Shining re-created by bunnies in 30 seconds can go here to find the two newest flash animations from the duo. This time they cover Titanic (very good) and Alien. Enjoy!
